India and Chile Begin 4th Round of CEPA Negotiations in New Delhi
The 4th Round of negotiations for the India–Chile Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) commenced in New Delhi, marking another important step toward deepening bilateral trade and economic cooperation. Delegates from both countries gathered for a five-day negotiation round aimed at advancing discussions on several key chapters that are already nearing closure. High-priority subjects such as Market Access and Critical & Strategic Minerals remain central to the dialogue, reflecting the growing economic complementarities between India and Chile.

During the opening session, the Commerce Secretary underscored the importance of achieving a balanced and mutually beneficial agreement. He highlighted Chile’s extensive global trade network, shaped through numerous FTAs, and India’s rapidly expanding economic footprint driven by robust growth and diversification. These dynamics, he noted, make the CEPA particularly significant for unlocking new avenues of collaboration, enhancing supply chains, and promoting long-term economic resilience for both nations.

Representatives from both delegations expressed optimism about the progress made so far and conveyed confidence in their teams’ ability to navigate the remaining technical and policy issues. They emphasized that the CEPA has the potential to elevate bilateral trade, create new opportunities for businesses, and strengthen strategic cooperation—especially in sectors such as minerals, technology, renewable energy, and services.

The round concluded with both sides extending best wishes to their negotiating teams, reaffirming their commitment to fast-tracking the agreement and delivering a comprehensive, forward-looking partnership.
