India Expands Crude Oil Imports, Adds Argentina as New Supplier
India’s Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri announced that India now imports crude oil from 40 countries, including Argentina, a recent addition. The shift from 27 to 40 suppliers reflects India’s strategy of diversifying imports based on price and proximity advantages. With over 80% of its crude oil needs met through imports, India is also focusing on increasing domestic production and promoting natural gas and renewable fuels to reduce dependency on imports.
