India took center stage at the BRICS Transport Ministers’ Meeting in Brasilia, with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari leading discussions focused on building sustainable and efficient transportation systems. During the visit, Minister Gadkari held a productive bilateral meeting with the Brazilian Minister of Transport. Both sides emphasized deepening cooperation, especially in the areas of alternative energy and logistics.
One of the main topics discussed was the promotion of flex-fuel vehicles, which can run on ethanol and other fuel blends. Both India and Brazil share a strong interest in expanding the use of ethanol to reduce oil dependency and lower emissions.
The meeting also focused on improving logistics operations, especially in key industrial and port corridors. Enhancing transport efficiency is seen as critical to supporting trade growth and boosting economic competitiveness for both countries.
