India Advances Plans for Resident Mission in Ecuador During Ministerial Visit
Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Pabitra Margherita, arrived in Quito on his maiden visit to Ecuador, underlining India’s intent to deepen engagement with the Andean nation. During the visit, Shri Margherita is scheduled to review preparations for establishing a resident Indian mission in Quito, reflecting New Delhi’s interest in closer political, economic and consular ties in the region.

The Ministers programme includes meetings with senior Ecuadorian leaders to discuss cooperation in areas such as renewable energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals and digital connectivity, as well as sessions with business chambers to explore trade and investment opportunities. Officials will also examine practical arrangements to support the Indian community and streamline consular services once a resident mission is operational.

Shri Margherita will meet members of the Indian diaspora and local industry representatives to emphasize people-to-people links and shared priorities in skill development and technology partnership. His engagements aim to translate strategic intent into concrete cooperation while respecting Ecuador’s development priorities.

The visit reaffirms India’s focused outreach to Latin America and its intent to expand diplomatic presence where it strengthens bilateral cooperation. Further updates on the Ministers programme will follow as meetings conclude.
