Union Minister of State for External Affairs Shri Pabitra Margherita arrived in Havana on an official visit, marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Cuba.
The visit underscores India’s continued commitment to strengthening its historic friendship with Cuba and expanding cooperation across political, economic, cultural, and developmental sectors.
During the visit, Shri Margherita is expected to hold meetings with senior Cuban leaders and counterparts to review ongoing collaboration and explore new areas of partnership, including renewable energy, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and capacity building.
India and Cuba share a longstanding relationship rooted in solidarity, mutual respect, and South–South cooperation. Over the decades, the two nations have supported each other in multilateral forums and worked closely in areas such as biotechnology, education, and traditional medicine.
The visit reaffirms India’s dedication to deepening its engagement with Cuba and the wider Latin American region, building on six and a half decades of friendship and a shared vision for inclusive growth and global cooperation.
