Union Minister Bhupender Yadav met with Brazil’s Minister for Environment and Climate Change, Marina Silva, on the sidelines of COP30, underscoring the deepening environmental partnership between India and Brazil at a crucial moment for global climate negotiations.
The meeting reviewed major developments in the ongoing COP deliberations, with both ministers exchanging views on critical agenda items shaping the conference, including forest conservation, climate finance, and pathways for equitable energy transitions. Minister Yadav highlighted India’s commitment to constructive engagement and to advancing outcomes that address the needs of developing countries.
A significant milestone in the dialogue was India’s decision to join the Brazil-led Tropical Forests Forever Facility (TFFF) as an observer—an initiative announced at the Leaders’ Summit ahead of COP30 in Belém. The platform aims to promote long-term, results-based support for nations working to protect tropical forests, ensuring sustained financing and cooperation.
The interaction reaffirmed the growing alignment between India and Brazil on climate action and their shared commitment to strengthening Global South leadership within multilateral environmental frameworks.
