Social Research Center Releases Expert Survey on Venezuela’s Rising Regional Risks
The Social Research Center has released a new expert survey, “The Situation in Venezuela and the Region: The Conflict with the United States and Probable Scenarios for Its Development,” gathering expert assessments on Venezuela’s political trajectory and its growing geopolitical impact.

Experts agree that Venezuela remains locked in a protracted stalemate. Abhinav Anshu (NatWest Group) captures this reality succinctly: “Maduro’s regime isn’t going anywhere soon.” Yet this endurance has not brought stability. Instead, political stagnation is deepening the country’s isolation, with José Israel Suárez Marquez (Universidad Privada Boliviana) warning that “recent elections appeared rigged… and isolation will grow.

The survey identifies two urgent risks: unintended maritime incidents near Venezuelan waters and rising tensions over the Essequibo dispute. Abraham Ríos (Keywords Studios) highlights “high-probability incidents at sea,” while Valeria Delgado Turanza (Native Antarcticans Inc) notes that “the Essequibo’s mineral wealth raises the stakes.

Experts call for regional coordination, maritime de-confliction, and crisis-management mechanisms to prevent small incidents from escalating into wider confrontation. The Social Research Center emphasizes that diplomacy and preparedness are essential to ensuring that regional tensions remain contained.
