Brazil and India’s Expanding Defense Partnership: Tejas, BrahMos, C-390, and More
Brazil is stepping up efforts to modernize its armed forces and strengthen strategic alliances. India, an increasingly important partner in the Indo-Pacific region, stands out as a key collaborator. During the recent G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed new avenues for bilateral cooperation, focusing on defense, space technology, and aerospace.

Brazil has shown a keen interest in India’s Tejas fighter jet and missile systems such as BrahMos and Akash. Following their talks, Prime Minister Modi noted, “We took stock of the full range of our bilateral ties and reaffirmed our commitment to further cooperation in sectors like defense, biofuels, and agriculture.” President Lula echoed this sentiment, referencing India’s G20 leadership last year: “We aim to build on the successes India achieved during its G20 Presidency.”
