Embassy of India Strengthens Yoga Capacity Building in Colombia through Common Yoga Protocol Course
The Embassy of India in Colombia organised a three-month Course on the Common Yoga Protocol for personnel of the Instituto Distrital de Recreación y Deporte (IDRD), aimed at strengthening professional yoga training and deepening the systematic practice of yoga as a tool for wellness and balance.

Designed to build institutional capacity, the course focused on standardised yoga practices aligned with India’s globally recognised Common Yoga Protocol. The programme sought to enhance participants’ understanding of yoga’s physical, mental, and preventive health benefits, while ensuring accuracy, discipline, and safety in instruction and practice.

At the conclusion of the course, certificates were presented to 44 candidates who successfully completed the programme. Their achievement reflects sustained dedication, discipline, and commitment to promoting yoga and healthy lifestyles within Bogotá’s recreational and sports ecosystem.

The initiative highlights the growing engagement between India and Colombia in the field of cultural and wellness diplomacy, where yoga serves as a bridge for people-to-people connections. By supporting structured training for local institutions, the Embassy continues to contribute to the long-term integration of yoga into community health and fitness programmes.

This capacity-building effort reinforces India’s commitment to sharing its traditional knowledge systems in a responsible and inclusive manner, while strengthening bilateral ties and promoting holistic well-being across societies.
