The Indian Diaspora in Latin America: Bridges Between Cultures and Continents
Across the last century, the Indian diaspora has fanned out to every continentsettling, building businesses, and weaving cultural threads into local fabrics. Early flows were shaped by indentured labor to the Caribbean, Africa, and Fiji in the 19th and early 20th centuries, followed by post-independence waves toward North America, Europe, the Gulf, and Southeast Asia. Latin America and the Caribbean (LACB), by contrast, long remained a marginal destination.
