On September 19, Ambassador Dinesh Bhatia met with Fernanda De Negri, Secretary of Science, Technology, and the Health Economic-Industrial Complex at Brazils Ministry of Health (@minsaude). The meeting underscored the shared commitment of India and Brazil to deepen cooperation in health, science, and innovation.
Ambassador Bhatia congratulated Secretary De Negri on her role in advancing Brazils health policy and emphasized Indias readiness to partner with Brazil in areas where the two nations hold natural synergies. The discussions explored opportunities for joint collaboration in pharmaceutical production, vaccine development, clinical research, digital health, and biotechnologysectors where both countries have strong capacities and complementary expertise.
The conversation also highlighted the importance of strengthening the Health Economic-Industrial Complex, a strategic initiative for Brazil aimed at enhancing domestic capacity in pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and health technologies. Indias role as a trusted supplier of affordable medicines and vaccines, coupled with its expanding biotech and digital health innovations, positions it as a valuable partner in this process.
Both sides reaffirmed their interest in working together not only bilaterally but also in multilateral forums such as BRICS and the Global South health cooperation platforms, with the aim of building more resilient supply chains and ensuring equitable access to essential medicines and technologies.
The meeting reflected the growing convergence of India and Brazils priorities in public health and science-driven innovation, reinforcing their broader strategic partnership and shared vision of sustainable development.
