Factors Influencing Political Ratings
Economic performance is perhaps the most significant determinant of political ratings. It is because of the economy that a country is able to buy public opinion in a certain direction towards political ratings. As in the case of India, economic growth and development initiatives have usually favored the ratings of leaders such as Narendra Modi.
Social welfare initiatives also have a substantial influence on political ratings. Generally, welfare schemes and policies affect public political ratings. For instance, the NREGA and Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana are prominent examples of initiatives in India that have favorably changed the political ratings of Indian leaders.
Global events can also become instrumental in causing political ratings-for instance, in the current world, the COVID-19 pandemic causes political ratings as impact on it might reflect in some countries. In India, however, the measures taken by the government in response to COVID have been crucial in molding the opinion of the masses and political ratings.
Regional and Local Factors
Most notably, an aspect of politics in India that affects political ratings is regional identity. The parties, in turn, work on the interests and aspirations of the regions influenced by the party. For instance, historically, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Tamil Nadu have been very strong regional parties.
Local issues, such as infrastructure development, employment opportunities, and law and order, are critical in determining political ratings. Typically, issues concerning the local level take precedence over national issues in India; hence, voters would rather opt for candidates who deliver on local promises.
Changes in Political Ratings Over Time
Before 2014, the political scenario in India was largely dominated by the Indian National Congress. The INC ratings were determined by such factors as performance of economy, measures of social welfare, and corruption scandals. The main reason for decline in its rating was the corruption scandals, which included 2G spectrum scam and Commonwealth Games scam.
Really, from outside, the 2014 general elections seemed to have changed drastically the political scenario in India; it showed the Bharatiya Janata Party polling more votes than it had done before. BJP ratings were also determined through factors like economic performance, social welfare initiatives, and nationalist sentiments. Economic development and effective governance had always been the major selling points of BJP governance.
The COVID-19 pandemic has really influenced the political map of India; the government's action during the pandemic has affected how people view the government in terms of votes and politically. Some people hail the government's measures against the pandemic while others denounce them as too soft.
Economic Performance and Impact on Political Rating
The economic performance of a state is one of the prominent dimensions in the political ratings. The general scenario of the economy tends to be an influencing factor in people's opinion related to political ratings. In a country like India, for example, economic growth and development initiatives positively affect a leader's ratings like those of Narendra Modi.
A strong economy is likely to instigate increased political rating in employment, incomes, and standards of living. A weak economy, on the contrary, brings loss of jobs, reduced incomes, and lower standards in regard to living, and thus has a negative impact on the ratings of a politician.
How Social Media Influence Political Ratings
Social media is now the new threshold that politicians and electorates use to define public opinion. Making use of social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, it has become easier for politicians to reach a wider audience and self-push to a personal brand.
However, it could be a two-edged sword. A single mistake or slip of tongue is enough to go viral and dent the reputation of a politician. In addition, social media has also provided a platform for spreading into that negative information and propaganda that would also dent a politician's ratings.
Social welfare initiatives would sway the national political ratings. Presently, a random example of how social welfare schemes and policies would really inflame political ratings is the NREGA and PMJDY initiatives.
Recently PM Narendra Modi has become the most popular political leader all over the world surpassing Joe Biden and Rishi Sunak, according to a recent Morning Consult survey.
As stated above, there exist global events that may come under consideration such as COVID-19. This pandemic has been such a great factor on the political scale-adverse generally as far as the responses of the governments while facing the calamity.
Conclusion
There are many such factors that will influence political ratings in the country, including economic performance, social welfare programs, identity regionally, and events taking place in the world at large.
We may glean a lot about the nature of these political ratings and the dimensions of their evolution by way of interdisciplinary study of the above-mentioned factors.
