Q1: What motivated you to choose LATAM specifically? Did you also consider other regions such as Europe or the United States?
My move to LATAM was mainly driven by a professional opportunity. I was working in India and my company offered me an offsite project assignment in Mexico, which felt like the right step at the right time. Of course, I had considered other regions like Europe or the United States in a general sense, but Mexico came as a concrete, timely opportunity, with the added appeal of being a fast-growing, market with amazing opportunities.
Q2: What were your initial impressions of your country in LATAM? What surprised, shocked, or delighted you the most?
My first impression of Mexico was how warm and welcoming people are—there’s a genuine openness that makes settling in much easier. I was delighted by the richness of the culture: the food, the music, the way traditions are celebrated, and how proudly people speak about their history. What surprised me most was how global Mexico City feels while still being deeply local at the same time, modern, fast-paced, and international, but with strong community life and cultural roots.
Q3: Which professional associations/ industry networks are you a member of? Are there any local initiatives, social impact projects, or volunteer activities you are involved in or interested in supporting?
I actively participate in initiatives connected to the Indian Embassy and the broader Indian community, which has been a great way to build both professional and personal networks. I also join volunteering activities that come up through these channels, especially those that promote cultural exchange and community support. Going forward, I’m interested in getting more involved in social-impact efforts that connect India and Mexico, whether through education, entrepreneurship, or community-building initiatives.
Q4: Which local events or cultural celebrations have you taken part in (such as festivals or national holidays)?
Yes, I’ve taken part in several celebrations organized by the Embassy and other Indian associations, these events are a great way to keep our traditions alive and share them with a wider audience. At the same time, I’ve also enjoyed participating in Mexican celebrations and holidays. Experiencing both Indian and Mexican festivities has been one of the most meaningful parts of living here, because it highlights how culture can bring people together.
Q5: What are your professional plans after graduation or in a few years? Do you want to work in India–LATAM relations?
I have permanent residency in Mexico, and I plan to stay here for the time being to keep building my professional experience and deepen my understanding of the region. Over the next few years, I want to grow my career in a way that strengthens India–Mexico connections if possible, especially through business collaboration, cross-border projects, and community engagement. I see a long-term future for myself here, and
