Q1: What motivated you to choose LATAM specifically? Did you also consider other regions such as Europe or the United States?
My interest in LATAM, especially Mexico, began while working at Oracle India with Mexican colleagues. I appreciated their collaborative work culture and became interested in Mexico’s economic growth and strategic proximity to the U.S. I considered Europe, Canada, and the U.S., but factors such as high costs, shorter programs, climate, and visa constraints made Mexico a better fit. Competitive tuition, scholarships, and the opportunity to learn Spanish also influenced my decision.
Q2: What were your initial impressions of your country in LATAM? What surprised, shocked, or delighted you the most?
My initial impression of Mexico was very positive. People are warm and welcoming, which eased my transition. I was pleasantly surprised by similarities in food culture and the availability of vegetarian options. The main adjustments were language and dietary habits. Academically, I found the system practical and well-structured.
Q3: Which professional associations/ industry networks are you a member of? Are there any local initiatives, social impact projects, or volunteer activities you are involved in or interested in supporting?
While not formally affiliated with student organizations, I actively promote Indian culture through yoga and cultural activities. I have also supported a local startup law firm as a consultant.
Q4: Which local events or cultural celebrations have you taken part in (such as festivals or national holidays)?
I have participated in major Mexican cultural events such as Day of the Dead, Christmas, and Independence Day, which enhanced my understanding of local traditions. I also engage in Indian cultural and religious events in Mexico, including Holi, Diwali, Embassy of India celebrations, and Janmashtami at ISKCON, allowing me to stay connected to Indian culture while integrating into Mexican society.
Q5: What are your professional plans after graduation or in a few years? Do you want to work in India–LATAM relations?
I am focused on building my career in Mexico and leveraging growth opportunities, with potential future involvement in India–Mexico business or entrepreneurial collaborations that bridge both markets.
