India–Brazil Sign Landmark Naval MoU to Boost Submarine Maintenance Cooperation
In a major step toward strengthening maritime cooperation, the Indian Navy, Brazilian Navy, and Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd. (MDL) have signed a landmark tripartite Memorandum of Understanding focused on the maintenance of Scorpène-class submarines and other naval platforms.

The agreement, concluded during the ongoing visit of the Chief of Naval Staff to Brazil, establishes a robust framework for the exchange of technical information aimed at enhancing life-cycle support and improving operational efficiency.

The MoU also promotes experience sharing in logistics, training, and maintenance—bringing together the expertise of government agencies and defence industry partners from both nations. This collaboration is expected to significantly boost joint defence R&D efforts and drive innovation in the upkeep of advanced naval assets.

As India and Brazil deepen their maritime partnership, this agreement marks a pivotal stride toward stronger security cooperation and sustained technological progress in naval capability development.
