Indonesia inclusion by Brazil is now full-formal member as Brazil marks another significant advancement for the 11-member group.
Therefore, the collective-responsibilities platform evolves in order to bring together representatives of the developing economies in dealing with global agendas and not only in demanding multilateralism that helps develop the interests of the Global South.
Indonesia inclusion means something extraordinary for BRICS:
- Imbalance and more from the region within the area: with Indonesia's involvement, BRICS will be more regionally represented than not.
- Greater economic diversity: Indonesia, with its large and diverse economy, will bring to the group's focus on agriculture and manufacturing and hold most natural resources of the members.
- Stronger cooperation on international issues: Very active in international forums, Indonesia's part in other international forums; G-20 or the Southeast Asia Association (ASEAN) will enhance BRICS collective approach to problems concerning climate change, sustainable development and economic governance.
